The original In Word or Deed website was founded by the late brother Charles D. Pogue, a faithful preacher of the gospel for more than 45 years. He began preaching at 13 years old, and dedicated his life to teaching God's message of salvation.

Charles was a 1995 graduate of the old Memphis School of Preaching. He held to the old paths while many of his contemporaries left the narrow road to walk the broad way unto destruction. He was a faithful servant of God until the very end, and will be sorely missed by those who had the privilege to know him.

During his 4+ decades as a Gospel preacher, he served as the full time minister at congregations in Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. Upon retirement, he continued to preach part time in Oklahoma. Throughout the years, he spoke on a number of brotherhood lectureships, and was the featured speaker for several gospel meetings.

In addition to being a faithful preacher of the Gospel, Charles was a prolific writer of articles, books and tracts on a large variety of moral and doctrinal issues. Several of his books and tracts are available in print. It is hoped that we will be able to make other materials he produced available in the near future as well.

Brother Charles is at rest now, awaiting all of us who will walk with the Lord faithfully until the end. It is our sincere hope that you may find information on this website that will help you understand how to begin your walk with the Lord, help you to grow in knowledge and faithfulness as a Christian, and strengthen your resolve to live as God would have us to do, no matter what we may face in this life.

Scott is the son of brother Charles Pogue. Scott was baptized for the remission of his sins as per Acts 2:38 in 1991, at 11 years old. Scott is an experienced PC repair tech, and web designer with years of bible study behind him. He has decided now is the time to follow the example his father set before him, in bringing others to Christ. He knows that it is only through belief and obedience to the Word of God, that one has the chance to make it to heaven. All other paths lead to destruction. Christ died to give us that opportunity. It's up to us to take advantage of the salvation offered to us through obedience to the Word of God before it is everlastingly too late.

As part of Scott's efforts to bring the lost to the light, he has redesigned and relaunched In Word or Deed, so that the wisdom his father shared with him throughout the years can be imparted to others as they seek the narrow road to heaven, the road which Jesus told us few ever find.

Scott is working toward starting a lifetime mission as a preacher of the Gospel. His greatest desire is to serve the Lord, helping to bring the lost to Christ, so they can avoid the fate that awaits all those that miss the path to life everlasting; eternal destruction. He knows all too well that life is a vapor, and we only get one chance to get things right. Today may be all we have.
